My Freind Debbie from RwandaI first met Debbie at another fundraiser five years ago. After hearing her story I was instantly moved to tears.
I had never met ayone who had come from the Rwandan genocide. In fact I never even knew the details.
I recall hearing about it vagely on the news but that was all.
God connected us for a greater purpose than I first realized.
As I have come to know Debbie I have had a sense of her real struggles as she moved to Canada
to begin a new life and heal from the trauma of the genocide war. Debbie is a survivor of the Rwandan genocide.
Her mother, father and nine siblings were massacred in the genocide leaving her brother and his wife who have now passed due to injuries sustained from the genocide war.
They left four beautiful children behind. Debbie promised she would raise them and be there mother. These children are her only living relatives.
I know the struggle of starting all over again in a new country, leaving your culture, heratige, family and friends behind
brings a whole new set of challenges, and I didnt have to learn a new language! even though many Canadians think Australians have a language of there own!.
Over the last five years I have seen Debbies true heart of love and compassion for others which is why I believe she is still smiling today.
Debbie is a gift to Canada
Last May (2014) as Debbie and I were talking further about the Orphans I suggested that we join forces and God placed it on my heart to help her do a fundraiser.
I will be launching my CD-Soar which I have been working on with an African producer friend from Ghana and GMA award winning producer Andrew Horrocks.
All the proceeds from my first Canadian CD called –Soar will be given to Debbies cause to bring the last four surviving members of her family to Canada
for healing, restoration and a new beginning. Debbie and myself will be on this mission to raise $30,000. We believe God will open doors and we will go where He leads us.
Your donations are very needed any amount is welcome go to www.gofundme.com/adoptionRwanda
On this special night there will be light refreshments and food, the Rwandan African dancers and my CD launch!
It is going to be a special night of giving God Glory for what He has already done in Debbies life and for what he is going to do.
James 1:27 New International Version (NIV)
27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
James 1:27 The Message (MSG)
26-27 Anyone who sets himself up as “religious” by talking a good game is self-deceived. This kind of religion is hot air and only hot air.
Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight, and guard against corruption from the godless world.
We are expecting great reward….. for God is the God of the impossible and desires to prove Himself through the meek and the humble.
Many Blessings as you reach out to help Debbie Praise Assimwe and her four orphans.
